American Red Cross of Mid-South

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Letter from Executive Director, Laura Vaughn – April 2017

laura vaughn.pngThe American Red Cross of the Mid-South is honoring its volunteers and the work they do in the community during National Volunteer Week, April 23 -29. Volunteers are truly the heart of the Red Cross!

Last year, our volunteers helped nearly one thousand local families who faced home fires and other disaster situations. They trained nearly 13,000 people in lifesaving skills and assisted over 2,500 military members, veterans and their families and assisted at countless blood drives.

Becoming a member of the Disaster Action Team is one way that you can get involved. As a member of this team, you will provide support, assistance and hope to families in our community who are impacted by residential fire. Fire is our community’s number one disaster and you can help families cope and recover from its devastation. Your American Red Cross of the Mid-South assists an average of three families each day who lose their home to fire. During National Volunteer Week, join me in extending our sincerest thanks to the local Red Cross volunteers who help us fulfill our mission here in the Mid-South!
