The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
Red Cross Volunteer Jim Rieman helps set up additional cots for the 165+ residents of the Hickory Hill Community Center Shelter that were forced out of their homes due to raging flash floods today. For those of you still affected and/or wanting to know what to do next, here are some options:
1. If you have 1 ft. of water in your living area, call our office at 901-726-1690 for a caseworker to help and to send a Disaster Assessment Team to your neighborhood.
2. Download the free #RedCross flood app where you can access info to prepare and respond to flooding. Download it directly from the iTunes and Google Play app stores. You can also text “GETFLOOD” to 90999 or search “Red Cross Flood” in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Aplicación Inundación – ahora disponibles en español también!
